Exterior Foundation Waterproofing Installation Process
- All underground gas, water, cable, telephone and electric utility
lines are determined at least three full business days before digging
starts.
- The digging area and discharge method are determined. Existing areas
such as Drywells or street storm drains are checked to see if they can
be used for discharge. If not, a Sump Pump is installed.
- A hole is dug all the way to the footing to install a drain pipe leading
away from the house or to a adjacent Sump Pump. The drain pipe requires
plenty of clean gravel all around it and the use of proper filter fabric.
- The exposed wall is power washed and two coats of Rubberized Asphalt
Membrane is applied. After drying, a 60-mil composite membrane (CCW
MiraDRI 860/861) self-adhering sheet membrane is placed on top.
- A drainage board is installed (CCW MiraDRAIN 6000/6200) on top of
the membranes mentioned above. This drainage board is a high-flow, high-compressive
strength, vertical single-sided subsurface board that will not only
protect the composite membrane but also drain water from the soil directly
into the foundation drains below.
- Perform backfill and clean up operations.
